If you truly want to be successful and shine like the sun, then you must practice rising with the sun.
If you were to spend a day in the life of highly successful people including business magnates, celebrities, and so on, you would notice that their daily routine starts very early in the morning. And by waking up early, we don’t just mean getting up at 8 am or just in time for you to start your office routine – we mean super early like 5 am or perhaps even before that. The reason behind this is simple, although it is not often understood by people unless they practice the same and witness the results for themselves.
And the reason is that early morning hours are a sacred time!
Many people get up early to exercise, meditate, read some quality literature or do any other activity that helps them relax and destress their mind. This is because the hours before dawn are a time when almost everyone is asleep (excluding those aiming to be productive of course), and there are no distractions to take away focus. A serene and peaceful environment and the tranquility that prevails in nature at this hour allow you to get a lot of work done in a relatively short amount of time.
Becoming successful is never a miracle that happens overnight – it requires conscious and continuous efforts to reach the top. And this journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step – waking up early.
How to Make Your Mornings Productive
Here are a few tips that will help you make the most out of your day and achieve a productive lifestyle by using your mornings to get through the toughest tasks.
Snooze…No More
If you have already tried waking up early but always end up hitting the snooze button over and over again, then it’s time to break out of this habit. Set multiple alarms or better yet, keep the alarm clock/ mobile phone out of your reach before sleeping so that you cannot reach forward to snooze it. Set an annoying alarm tone and turn the ringer volume to the maximum. This can be an effective way to force yourself out of bed.
Make Your Bed
No one likes to do it, but if you make your bed immediately after you wake up, you will feel a small sense of pride for doing one of the ‘toughest’ tasks. This will also motivate you to move on and do something else, like dusting off the shelves, setting your wardrobe, arranging your desk or other similar stuff. And before you even realize, you would have completed quite some significant chores.
Drink a Glass of Water
Instead of brewing yourself a cup of coffee or tea, drink a glass of water when you wake up. Drinking water on an empty stomach has numerous health benefits including flushing out toxins, improving digestion and above all, activating every cell within your body. This refreshes you almost instantly as it gives you a kickstart, helping you feel more alert and reenergized.
Get Started
Be it at home or a gym, the top morning activity of productive people includes exercising, walking and/or jogging. Therefore, before it falls off your to-do list, do a couple of light stretches followed by a proper workout before you get started with your daily chores. Nothing boosts productivity more than exercising as it gives you a sense of well-being and helps you stay focused throughout the day.
Magic!
Even when you have done all these things after waking up pre-dawn, you will notice that you still have ample amount of time before you have to head off to the office or go about fulfilling your other duties. Utilize this time to get more useful work done. Have you got any pending chores? Or is there extra workload at the office? If so, complete it at this time.
The bottom line is that if you want to accomplish your goals and attain success, then you must first set straight your daily schedule because a productive lifestyle begins with early wake-up calls.
